finding it difficult to smile

#331 Nothing to smile about

You don’t smile as much

my family is not stable

it is broken on many levels

father works long hours

I digress I don’t know who he is

mother is distracted

as she doesn’t have enough for the table

my brother has been picked up so many times now

even I think he maybe up to something

so many are with opportunities thin on the ground

that everyone his age are doing it

Sorry I don’t smile when you see me

I don’t notice the opportunities

wouldn’t know one if it slapped me in the face

I am sure I would be more beautiful

and a  little more approachable

if I smiled more

my smiles have all been used up

on those school pictures

that were returned

could not be bought

not pretty enough I guess

despite my smile

so now, no I don’t smile

nothing to smile about

Rubbish collection after Christmas

After the Christmas and New year everyone is out of sync with the collections services in their area.  Where ever I drive around, I keep seeing piles of rubbish bags waiting to be collected

#328 Rubbish lying on the street

Rubbish lying in the street

all that is left after the festivities

are rubbish bags lying in the street

some black some green some orange

who can be bothered to recycle

when it all ends up the same

we have lost touch with our services

we keep putting them out

in anticipation that one day we will get it right

as we sleep the foxes have a field day

playing investigating what we have left behind

days and weeks with rubbish on the street

so now we know what the streets are paved with

it certainly isn’t gold, never was

for those who come to fulfill dreams

of a cold country that specialises in being mean

with black cabs that don’t stop

and buses that drive on by

what kind of service?

are we not worth it

no consideration for those who do not look the same

the ones we can blame for the mess we are in

as we all go on the dole

and we all line up and claim

for a government which does not get blamed

we are the ones who have failed

somehow we all failed the same

caught up with boxes and apps

that take us away

to virtual world where the streets are clean

other than the bodies lying bleeding on the screens

is this not a scene we have seen before ?

we are immune to hopes and dreams

laying on the ground

and the homeless in the doorways

of every shop, there to remind us

that we are the ones on top

how grateful we should be

as that is not me

lying in the road like rubbish

some green some orange some black

Lets take a look at love

I am  a romantic at heart, like most people I am fascinated with the intimate connections we make along the way. how it starts and unfortunately how it all ends.  coz it always ends

#327 It should never be

It started with good intentions

there were many promises

much holding hands

many kisses

and lots and lots of laughter

now I don’t understand the connection

I don’t recognise you as my friend

I wonder what planet you have wandered in from

I want to know when will it all end

as I sit here and replay

rewind, replay relive

what happened where did it go wrong

was it just a union that should never  be

but you are a man I am a woman

clearly you are not the man for me

Are the storms over?

The New year is much like the old year, weather wise.  No sign of snow just rain, rain, rain and heavy winds.  I feel like a figure in a glass globe.  My head is all fuzzy please please stop shaking!

#325 Storm done

Is it too early to declare?

it done!

sky’s are clear

no more storms

no more howling

people being washed out to sea

no more putting off today

to do tomorrow

because face it

you are scared

you are just a man

and driving walking flying

has all become treacherous

and it really isn’t so ‘Nice by the sea’

enough enough

Mother Nature stop

have we not suffered enough?

yes we have destroyed your rainforest

and we pollute the sky

but surely you can forgive us

for some of us

really do try

I recycle

and the men in China

I understand ride their bi-cycles

Little girl lost

This year has started with a record number of girl going missing.  between the ages of 12 -18 what is going on.  I remember these ages as if it was yesterday.  Yeah it all was terrible , yes it was enmotional, either crying or angry with little in between.  I got through I made it.  coz now it just seems like a distant memory.  Not gonna say anything corny like 'It made me the Woman I am today' coz thatz just ish.  What I would say is I really thought I wouldn't make it, but obviously I did , it was all desperate I was a 70's /80's kid and it was bleak.

#324 Little girl lost

Too many girls

are running away

leaving their homes

running from what

to go where

is it really that bad

is there no one to talk to

no mum

no brother

no dad

no sister

what is so bad

that you cannot communicate

that all there is left to do

is leave

jumping out the frying pan

landing in the fire

was it really that bad

is it too late to turn around

and try again

are they really not listening

do they really not see you

do you really not matter

you know you are missed

you are person in your own right

and you really do exist

New year resolotions

As a rule I don't make new year resoloutions.  I don't sign up for gym's only to attend two or three times.  I don't make list can never get to the end without getting distracted.


But this year.
This year is my year.
last year was all over the place , no focus I guess

no more languishing

running

faster than ever before

this year I am aiming for the sky

I want to achieve more

draw a line under last year

it’s done forgotten

now lets move on

this year I am here

watch this region

I will become all that I hope

Visitors from another planet

#321 Just landed

I have just landed

I think it is funny

all this time all this money

spent looking for another planet

when on the surface

this seems to be perfect

there is seas

and land

trees and mountains

what more could you need

you have everything

yet so many are starving

as politicians

continue carving

up the land

to make theirs look grand

way too much movement

too much pollution

I am here from another planet

I don’t have the solution

all I can do is report it

I have visited

and decided

that this planet

is way too distorted

not somewhere I would like to stay

so when my Mother ships flies back around

I will be leaving, leaving today!
