Django Unchained Admirable Attempt

shameless Eye Candy!!

Django unchained

I have watched half of this movie, there are some scenes that are classic funny, then there are some harrowing scenes.  It’s one of those movies you watch from you own perspective, everyone will no doubt have their own take on it.  A few people have come out the move stunned into silence.  I on the other hand with my opinionated self have watched half the movie (It is in the Quentin Tarantino style long) Hey what do you know something we have in common.  No I don’t come with a edit button, a mute button , on / off button and No definitely no manual,  You take me as you find me.

So today despite only watching half the movie I felt confident enough to write this poem.  I reserve the right to write another poem once I have viewed the rest of the movie..... So watch this space

#46 Django Cango

I am not ready for Django
The humour in Slavery?
What we went through, so bravely
I am not ready to laugh
This wound still cuts deep
I can’t find the funny side
To Men and Women
Made to beg on their knees
I am not able to distant myself
From what happened
Two, or three generations ago
Not far enough for me
For me not to know
How wicked this is

I am not ready to smile
To be polite
About Quentin Tarantino’s
Escapism box Office Fantasy Flight!

Fire Assault

This is the poem I posted today on fb, it’s about a fire that was deliberately started whilst I was staying at my friends flat in Thorthon Heath.  My daughter was 2 1/2 and we went over to spend a week, just to get away from the whole inner city living thing. ok to get away from the Ghetto.  At the time I was a struggling single parent living in Stockwell.

I remember it being a nice summer with lots of time spent in the communal garden.  it was a big house consisting of six two bedroom flats. Tenement flats?

There was a rambling Italian family upstairs, a yuppy couple with a Macaw,  I remember saying to them all casually like “When you get a chance could they bring their bird down”.  They kept insisting I came up with my daughter anyhow eventually one day I made it up and there it was this beautiful colourful huge bird.  I was like now I understand, my daughter saw it as well it was truy magnificent.  On the other side was an elderly retires woman very nice if I remember rightly someone reliable whom you could borrow a cup of sugar from.  That was it , well that's all I remember, my friend lived in the apartment on the ground floor to the right of the house.

We went to bed one night then about 2 in the morning she woke me and my daughter saying she could smell smoke and there was a orange glowing light at the back door.  I quickly woke my daughter threw a blanket over her and went to the front of the house, where the other neighbours in the block had congregated.  The fire brigade arrived promptly and put it out.  A few days later they came over with the police,  they questioned us at length, only after they had left then we spoke with the Italian Woman upstairs, we were under the impression that everyone was interrogated in this way. No just us, apparently they had a been a spate of them Arson Attacks on Black households. Really 1989 really 6 miles from Brixton and the riots and all them Black Folks. So what do you know two women and a child fare game for Racist Arsonist

#44 They Burnt My Baby Daughter’s Clothes
I tried to leave the plantation
They burnt my daughters clothes
Started a fire they made me return to the fold

I tried to leave the plantation
They burnt my daughters baby grow
Started a fire the smell got right up our nose

I tried to leave the plantation
They broke into the garden at night
We woke to the glow of a burning light

I tried to leave the plantation
They collected all the clothes
Put it on fire for what reason we don’t know

I tried to leave the plantation
The police asked us questions
Like if we should know

I tried to leave the plantation
They burnt my baby daughter's clothes
A few miles away from the fold

I tried to leave the plantation
It seems like a bizarre dream I know
This is true I only hope it never happens to you

My Chromebook!

Don't underestimate Me!

It sound dramatic but it's true My Chromebook changed my life. I now carry it almost everywhere I go. I have regularly taken it out on the train. I often used to observe others with their various gadgets and think are you really that important, that you have to either stay connected or the world just simply cannot do without your input on this or that matter. Now I have found and understand this obsession to be connected. They are doing work, but I am doing important stuff like composing my next poem.

#20 My Chromebook

My chromebook
Is my home
Let me define
Its where I start my poems
Its where I lay my rhymes
First I was like
This is some sort of joke
I couldn’t find my files
It felt like the emperors clothes
It was too much for me to understand
Who made this thing?
It is beyond this Wo-man
I am still mystified by certain stuff
Like writing a poem on my phone
Then its before me on my page
I thought it was a hacker
It had me in a rage
Initially this was just spooky
Now I'm like awesome
In your face!
In your face!

Telling it like it is

A friend I hadn’t spoken to in over a year, contacted me and shared some devastating news with me.  Well I told it like it was, which didn’t go down too well, I even added a few choice swear words.  To make my point.  (I hardly ever swear, I am often offended when I hear too many offensive words) but occasionally I find I have to, just to make my point.  Originally posted 15th March, but I have no idea where it went, when I checked the following morning it wasn’t on fb.  I know I posted it I was extremely tired, but I insisted on posting it.  Much to my daughters delight who was insisting I posted it so she could stay up late watching ‘Comic Relief’  (I am on to her)  I always tune in.  Like most people I find a lot of the reports very disturbing, that’s what poverty some are forced to live in.  The presenter made a point that was the bases for my poem ‘I believe hell is here’.  We can be born anywhere in the world it so happens the people who read this will be born with a lot of privileges that we take for granted.  It’s random all random!

#42 Fake Friends
I am not a ‘Yes Friend’
I am the straight no nonsense,
You will listen to it whether you want to listen Friend
I am not the ATM friend
But I will cook you a good meal Friend
I won’t be on the phone day and night
Chatting ish friend
I am a few select words,
Golden boot in the mouth award friend
I am not the ‘I think that is a bad idea’
but let’s see how it turns out Friend
I am not the let me drive my car friend
But if there is somewhere you wanna go
I will take you there Friend
I am not that “Whay how dat dress look
good on you Friend!”
Then gone around the corner
double up and bend Friend
I am not the I been through that Friend
But no mine was worse friend
I can chat on and on , but then I know when
To shut-up and listen friend
Hey what do you know people want fake Friends
I don’t do that
Strangely enough I don’t have a lot of Friends

Young Poet in the Making

The DLR

My daughter wanted to start her own blog , but at 8 she is too young. I have agreed to post this so she can get feedback. She wrote this after 1 journey on the DLR. If you have never rode on the DLR Firstly Shame on you. Either way this captures the experience very well

#3 The DLR
On the DLR it’s very weird
There is no driver it’s like they disappeared
Till the driver disappeared I took their place
The lady behind me said “easy does it”
I turned my head round
It made me lose concentration
I done a bad bend.
As we came to the station
I forgot to pull up
It was n’t good
Now I've disappointed my whole neighbourhood

Name: Riyana
Age: 8

Children are a Gift

Taking Children For Granted

We are told as Women that to be fulfilled we must have children.  What if you can’t have children?  There is a large group of women who have difficulties in conceiving, being pregnant and carrying babies full term.  Then there are those women who have experienced miscarriages, or still birth.  I have two beautiful children, I cannot imagine my life without them, they complete me!

Growing up I was a bit of a TomBoy never dreaming of being a Mother or even getting married.  Yet I have had the good fortune to be blessed with children.

Imagine if all you wanted to do was to have children and you simply couldn’t. They say everything is for a reason.  Some things are just simply unfair....

#53 Baby Blues

She has been waiting a lifetime
To receive that child
She has done everything she can
Even found herself a loving man
Yet still she waits
Others are succeeding
Almost flaunting their successes
Before her right in her face
Have they no compassion?
Taking them out
Dressing them up
Some people get all the luck
She waited and waited
Maybe having children was overrated
She will find something else to do
They were everywhere
Reminding her, of her failings
Of this thing she couldn't do
Of a life she never knew

Break The Silence

We need to break the silence and the fear that many children find themselves in keeping secrets that should not be kept, we need to create a platform where children can come and speak without fear of judgement, blame or shame. Right now as I type this and by the time it is read many more awful atrocities will be carried out by family members, so called friends towards the young and the vulnerable. Let us not forget those we hold in high esteem, who abuse their authority. Children are a gift from the creator, they should be cherished. My Father always says “A Child does not ask to be born”...

#25 Us
When you said you didn't want to go
I thought you just wanted to spoil my fun
I didn't understand
Thought you were being a drama queen
When I look back oh how I was so mean
What I don't understand was that he was always good to us
If I had a chance to go by myself
I would take it as mum's new man clearly doesn't like us
Mum said he liked young girls
We thought that was big people talk
Of which we have been instructed
Not to come between
But you are his daughter and I am his son
But as they say blood is thicker then water
Sorry for not realising, I could always see something in your eyes
It was the one thing we never shared
Now I understand why
I stand over a Man I once loved and respected
As the knife in my hand is dripping crimson red
I have no regrets
You remain my little annoying sister
I am here to protect
This I was told from the start
Yes I wanted a little brother
But once you came you took my heart
I want to hold you and tell you it will be alright
In time the nightmares will stop
I prayer you will grow to forgive
Then you can heal and learn again how to trust.

Remember my little sister there will always be us!
