Equality Overdue

  Just watched 15 minutes of 'The March'.  I grabbed my remote pressed record that's all I could do.  I couldn't move I was transfixed to screen.  I've had heard about the march I have seen clips of the march.  I was astounded by the sheer volume of people there who were truly integrated, they showed a water fountain where you saw black and white people drinking from the same fountain. powerful.  

Best thing I have seen on tv for a  long time.  totally inspiring.

They owe me

they owe us all

for the equality

that is overdue

forced

to treat

me different from you

if I was taken on my merit

where will I be ?

what could I achieve ?

I will live her life

while she looks at me

5o years ago he had a dream

the dream is still not realised

I am sad to console

all those who were there

who marched

and walked

who made their voices clear

everyone had something to say

it is as if there never was that day

did it happen?

did it really occur?

all that they wanted

is still wanting

this is 50 years on

equality is still haunting

Britain 's Got Talent Watch out!

Music it is funny how each generation claims  current music as there own.  Much of it we have heard before.  I had a wonderful surreal moment in  my car. travelling with I suppose three generations, my daughter my neighbour and her son and my retired Italian neighbour.  I have selected an easy listening station to cater for all specifically my Italian neighbour .  At some point the tape deck (yes not a typo, an actual tape deck, in my 2002 car) kicks in and it is a cassette my elder daughter had made probably 10 years ago, with Ashanti do an acapella number ( some would say quite badly) the good thing is it gives us non singers a chance to have ago.  So in the middle of all the hubba-bubba in car I hear him attempting and reaching some of those high notes.  I am of course tickled pink, so I rewind it and now I insist we all join in.  Britain Got Talent Watch out!

It is taking over my life

there is nothing else

outside of this

this is all I want to do

it has captivated me

I cannot deny

I know it isn’t healthy

I don't care

it is like a drug

I am addicted

helpless to resist

until there is nothing left

how can so many be wrong

#205 The Cycle of Life

Should I just stand here

and wait for me to come back round

is it all just a never ending cycle

going around and around

groundhog day

not sure what my lesson is

what it is I meant to learn today

so to make this cycle end

make this day go away

make this day finally be put to bed

I will just stand here

waiting for me to come around again

I work Hard for my Tings!

Don't you hate when assumptions are made about your finances based on what I don't know.  you can never know someone financial situation after just observing them.  You would have to live with them and follow them around for at least a month.  Then you can have a better idea

What I have

I worked for

what I don't have

I am yet to achieve

don't watch what I have

when you know I hardly ever sleep

I make my sacrifices

you have more free time than me

in the park you can run free

I don’t spend my money reckless

as I know how hard it is to obtain

I don’t smoke or gamble

as I want to waste my brain

If I believe you need it

I will give it to you

as your need must be greater than mine

as you know how hard I work

you know I have children too

don’t covet what I have

as you couldn’t walk a day in my shoes

you think your life is hard

yet you don't know what I have been through

Let me know when the war is over

I was fortunate to have met, campaigned with, marched with and listened to Spartacas R, also known as Funduci. (That means teacher) he was he taught by example, he was a very principle man.  Who sadly passed into the realms of the Ancestors, where I guess he is still working tirelessly for the emancipation of our people.

I remember a great man

asked the question

if we are not at war, when did it end

we could not answer

we did not realise we were at war

the signs are there

people disappear

our men are being taken

against their will

they are being locked up and imprisoned

they are forced to work

for low or no wage

if we are not at war

when will we be free

there are bars and chains surrounding me

if we are not at war

when did it end

did we win

when did it begin

if we are not at war

why do I walk in fear

why are things not equally distributed

why are the signs not clear

Another side to Clapham

I visiting friends Thursday evening.  I was taken back by all the chic trendy looking eateries in Clapham Junction.  Everyone was having such a great time with loud raucous conversations with copious amounts of wine.

#199 Outside Dining

I want to sit outside

on pavements

watching the traffic go by

I want to be able to afford this lifestyle

With no cares in the world

as the recession has us on hold

has my purse on lockdown

my cards are not flexible enough

to allow me to sit on pavements

to enjoy this type of lifestyle

I wonder why I am not there

amongst the ohh so happy

the oh so gay

I rush to my second job

praying I won’t be late

as they sit outside mocking

my attempts of life

the struggle of an existence

where I am just getting by

I want to sit on pavements

Sipping white wine
