What the System does and have Been Doing to our Boys

The treatment of black boys and black men is appalling.  The youngest person to be executed in America was a 14 year old boy.  I posted this on my fb timeline.  Is this just typical or a one off.
Let we never forget.... How far we have come......Or do they just shoot us now???

"In a South Carolina prison on June 16, 1944, guards walked a 14-year-old Black boy, bible tucked under his arm, to the electric chair. He used the bible as a booster seat. At 5' 1" and 95 pounds, the straps didn’t fit, and an electrode was too big for his leg. The switch was pulled, and the adult sized death mask fell from his face. Tears streamed from his wide-open, tearful eyes, and saliva dripped from his mouth. Witnesses recoiled in horror as they watched the execution of the youngest person in the United States in the past century.................  This is just an extract, the details are gruelling and cruel of course he was innocent.  Which is often overlooked when you are black and male....

#191a I want a Boy

I want a boy
I want a boy
I wondered about this sentiment
Why a boy in preference to a girl

How sexist I thought
How self loathing I thought
I want a boy
I want a boy
So the system can
Turn him into a toy

So he can be put down
So he can be accused
Stop searched
All rights removed
I want a boy
To be foda far the system
Make solicitors rich
Keep courts busy
House prisons
I want  a boy
I want a boy
So he can be called names
So he can be drugged
Then sectioned
So whatever happens in a 10 mile radius
He can be blamed
I want a boy
I want a boy
That I can love
Where my father walked away
This boy can play
I want a boy
Who one day
If he is allowed to be
Can lead my people

A boy to set us all free

Bad Fast Food

Don't get me started on the endless line of Fast Food Chicken shops in my area.  Yes I live in one of those neighbourhoods.  Let's not go there as to how I happen to live on my particular road why my child goes to That particular school.  It is n't by choice as, if you are from a particular class your choices of education and housing are limited.  Of course you can buy your way out of your demoghaphic grouping but you can't buy your way out of a class.  Should I say certain classes I don't know my Parents came as Immigrants over 50 years ago they both worked very hard my Mother owned property and my Father had purchased a few properties before he returned home.  Is this progress I don't know coz other than my daughter attending university not much has changed.  I live in Social housing, which incidentally I don't have the confidence in the work market to buy my home.  Mort -gage (something you pay until you die).

My father had once said 'Not all people should get a mortgage'  I was 10 at the time I didn't know what he meant I kind of get it now.
Where were we?  fast food 'Bad Fast Food'  'You are what you eat'  Funny just typing the word 'EAT' and I accidentally typed 'MEAT' freaky huh???

#189 Morleys Madness
Fast food from Morleys
Is for people who eat poorly
They have no regards for health
It's a fast food treat
With.suspect meat
That's been sitting around on a shelf
Our young girls become inflated
Makes men's eyes dilated
Boys eat it to refuel
After hours spent
Playing the fool's
This is the taste they crave
After they eat they become sluggish
They join a gang
Now they are behaving thuggish
Forget banning drugs and drinks
Ban this bad smelling food

The false economy stinks

Put in the Preparation for Success

Posted fb 05/08/13

#187 Prepare For Success

Is it possible to prepare too much
Is it possible to be too ready
what happens if you are prepared to much
What happens if you are too ready
Do you overshoot your target
End up getting no prize
Come home empty handed maybe

Is it possible to over do
The preparation
The getting ready
Or are these things we say to ourselves
When we don’t want to put in the effort

I intend to be prepared
Over or under
I intend to be ready
Over under
Now I say it like that
I know which one I prefer
I will be over  prepared
I will be over ready

I will come home with the prize

I will not be coming home empty handed

The Arrogant Poet

As a poet , you some time feel the need to share everything especially at night I wake up confused or confident this is my most creative time of the day.  I posted my poem 3 hours late, I simply just fell asleep, woke up feeling guilty then quickly penned this and gave it as the second poem for that day.

#185a Late Night Ramblings

Ramblings or clear thinking
In the middle of the night
When I awake
Have I been woken by the gem?
Of a clear thought that must be shared
Or have I been woken
By an empty stomach
Or some other bodily function
Which needs to be answered
Am I awake ?
Or is this part of REM?
If it is
Will I awake
To find nothing on this page
Or will it be filled?
With my clear thoughts
That oh so needed to be shared
Or will it be filled with ramblings
Ramblings trying desperately
To be much more
If I continue on
Maybe I will produce a gem
Maybe I should review
What has gone before
In case I have already produced that gem
What is now left is the rambling
If only I could stop
Be confident to stop
Feeling I have done enough
I have delivered
The arrogance
The confidence
Be bold
And stop and say this is enough
Enough of the rambling
Make it stop!

Make it stop!

Which shops survive

Whilst driving threw Brixton it suddenly occurred to me there was a definite pattern in regards to which shops survived and which just fell by the wayside.  There is a shoe shop in Brixton named JoJo's that shop has been there for as long as I can remember.  I often wonder around looking at the designer shoes that just aint my style.  Obviously someone is buying them coz it is still there

#183 What remains

What remains
What stays
Who decides
These things
These days
Shoe shop
Pawn shop
Bed shop
Food shop
That’s it
All others
Fall by the wayside

#182 Work in Progress

He said it was work in progress
As he played with my heart

He said I was a project
He just hadn’t got around to start

He put me on hold
Just for the tone

I wanted to hang up
I wasn’t that bold

He held the balls
He pulled the strings

He had my heart

I, I had to give in

Stress at work

Once again I feel forced to take time out from work.  you would think I was running some huge company.  I refuse to stay in  a stressful situation in the name of work and money.  So I have decided to put my job on hold for 4 weeks, well it coincides with the summer holidays so that has worked out well.  Is there  a plan, kind of bit of  wing and a prayer, which I think is about to be answered just been short-listed which is great coz money will be running out soon.  They say you are 6 weeks from being on the street, that is a scary thought.  well I have 5 1/2 weeks to go.  let's hope note

#181 I have to give in

I am jacking it in
I am leaving today
I have had enough
I don’t care about what you want to say
You don’t know what it is like
You haven’t had my luck
You don’t know what I have had to put up with
While I listen to all this muck
There is the innuendos
Then the put downs
The questioning of my ability
Whenever I am around
Now what they say behind my back
I hate to think
What they say to my face
Makes my heart sink
You think I was use to it
Grew a thick skin
Well surprisingly No! I haven’t
They have won

I have to give in.
