It's Sunday 24th February 2013

It's Sunday 24th February 2013 23 days ago I announced in my Facebook account that I will be posting a poem a day.  This has gone remarkably well, it was daunting at first but what I have found is that each day I am producing at least two poems a day.

I realise this has to be the medium for my poems, my circle of friends and family are not quite ready for a poem a day,  with the numerous request to play various games, and proclamation of this or the other.  my work is getting lost.

I have been writing poems for many years now on and off. I went through a period of my Angry poems as my daughter would call them.  There was a lot going on in my community politically and I was becoming a bit of an activist, a bit of an activist well either you are or you are not.

Then there are the poems I write for people for various occasions  the one I  have handed out the most is  a poem called In Memory of Absent friends and Loved ones.  How this poem came about, I was working on an helpdesk in Dagenham when  a colleagues friend from Cardiff suddenly passed away leaving three children he was only 34 it didn't make sense.  I watched his friend each day dealing with the grief, he was one of those real quiet geeky guys you get in every IT office.  I wasn't a Geek not bright enough to be considered a geek anyhow I typed up the poem and emailed him it. to which he just said 'Thanks not really in to poetry but thanks all the same' that was it that was all he said.  It was the most detailed conversation we ever had, but right away I got it that he got it and that was fine by me

Sincerely those are the people I would like to reach the ones that 'Don't do poetry' or 'I am not into poetry' like it is some terrible place.  I don't or I try not to get involved in lengthy conversations about my poems ( I find it all a little to pretentious) I write them then move on,  you get something from it fine my work here is done.
